A short stroll up St. Giles and it can quickly feel like you’re leaving the bumble and bustle of the city centre. However, step through the small front door to the Eagle and Child, and the buzz of one of Oxford’s oldest pubs quickly envelops you as you make your way to the bar. Winding corridors and concealed antique booths provide the perfect setting for conversation and drinks long into the night. It is not surprising it was a regular meeting point for writers such as J.R.R Tolkien and C.S. Lewis in days gone by.
