Another of Oxford’s essential collection of pubs is the Lamb and Flag, situated on the eastern side of St Giles. It first opened its doors around 1560 and like the Eagle and Child just across the road, it has hosted the ‘Inklings’ writers group. In more recent times, the Lamb and Flag has been a distinctly student-oriented pub.
During term time it is always bustling with students who gather round small, pint-filled tables in medieval rooms.
With its wide selection of real ales and some really rare brews such as Old Peculier and Skinners beer, the Lamb and Flag is second to none in Oxford when it comes to pint-shaped refreshments.
